Identify dimensions that affect assembly, surfaces that contact other components and any cleaning or exposure conditions the part must withstand. Share your inspection, traceability and documentation requirements with the manufacturing team before tooling decisions are made. Agree on sample approval and any application-specific testing responsibilities. If your program requires a particular certification or controlled process, request current documentation and confirm that its scope covers the proposed work.
Automotive
Describe where the component will be installed and how it connects to the surrounding assembly. An interior cover, exterior fitting and part near heat or fluids can have different design and material requirements. Mark critical mating dimensions, cosmetic surfaces and retention features on the drawing. Provide the expected production quantities, customer specifications and inspection requirements.
